# Samford solarpunk homestead — smooth tour Open **samford-solarpunk-smooth-tour.blend**. It is saved at frame 1 in the animated camera view. Hover over the 3D view and press **Space**, or click the Timeline Play triangle. Space pauses. **Shift + Left Arrow** returns to the start. The tour runs for **115 seconds across 23 chapters**. ## Smoother playback and solarpunk update The interactive scene uses simplified foliage and merged static display meshes: 47 visible objects and approximately 198,000 faces, down from 4,090 objects and 1.91 million faces. Matching Workbench preview tests were approximately 6–7 times faster after warm-up; these timings are not a measurement of interactive FPS. Solid shading is selected, with expensive cavity and shadow effects disabled. Full editable geometry and PBR materials remain under **DETAIL - full geometry for renders**. This collection is disabled only in the viewport. Cycles renders automatically use the detailed scene and exclude **00 FAST TOUR - lightweight viewport**. For detailed editing, expose the monitor column in the Outliner filter menu, enable DETAIL and disable FAST TOUR; reverse those two switches for playback. The lightweight meshes are static display copies, so edit the originals for final renders. The garage now contains a simplified pearl-white Tesla Model Y with panoramic glazing, Tesla badge, aero wheels and a cable connected to a wall charger. Eight additional garage roof solar modules and a planted timber trellis extend the solarpunk theme. The vehicle is a concept representation based on the [2020–2024 Tesla Model Y reference](https://www.tesla.com/ownersmanual/2020_2024_modely/en_cn/Owners_Manual.pdf). Solar charging is a visual concept, with no electrical capacity simulation. `tesla-solarpunk-garage.png` shows the updated garage. `performance-checks.json` records performance and model verification. ## What changed - Two of the three solid children’s cabins are removed, including their furniture and unnecessary covered walks. Their locations are now faint wire outlines and translucent ground shadows, labelled as unbuilt future spaces in the tour. - The remaining cabin is a meditation room with a woven mat, square zabuton, one round cushion, a low stone candle shelf with three candles, and a simple timber bench. The former bed, desk, wardrobe and decoration are removed. - A 4m-wide gravel driveway approaches from the southeast and reaches a gravel turning apron outside a detached 8 × 7m garage. The garage contains the Tesla, a timber workstation with tools and a small display, and two bicycles in a three-position rack. - The living pavilion, parents’ wing, corridor, meditation room, sauna, greenhouse and garage have transparent presentation facades. Timber posts and frames remain visible. - Kitchen/dining, parents’ bedroom and bathroom, six dining seats, homelab, solar, two rainwater tanks, greenhouse and garden beds remain. ## Transparent viewing sides Collection **30 VIEW - Transparent building sides** contains the retained wall skins. They use near-transparent materials in Cycles and are hidden as filled surfaces in the fast solid viewport. These are visual cutaways, not a specification to build open or transparent exterior walls. Each wall object records its original material names for restoration. The rest of the building remains editable. ## Files - `retreat-garage-overview.png` — road, garage and homestead. - `meditation-room.png` — cushion, candles and simple interior. - `garage-workstation-bikes.png` — parked car, workbench and bikes. - `retreat-garage-plan.svg` — updated labelled layout. - `design-checks.json` — scene counts and tour verification. - `tour-chapters.json` — chapter frames and titles. The earlier family-cabin version is preserved in the adjacent samford-spacious-tour folder. This is an architectural scene, not a surveyed site or construction design. Road access and gradients, drainage, garage structure, ventilation, fire and final equipment requirements still depend on the actual property and detailed design.
